The Cantine Soloperto from Manduria releases for the first time ever, a Novello wine, the 2004 Primitivo del Salento IGT. This is a first for thefamily of winemakers that has been in the business for over 40 years. The decision to produce a young wine that pairs well with most dishes was made thanks to the favorable weather that has allowed for exceptional high quality wine this harvest season.
As for all other Soloperto wines, this new release offers a great quality-price ratio.
"(Delicate and elegant) as the firs flapping of a butterfly wings, the perfumes of Fall brought us its first fruits that we present to you with this Novello wine." This fresh and young wine called for a similarly original label. For this reason the image chosen was Il Volo Della Farfalla (The Flight of the Butterfly), a painting by Mandurian artists, Federica Stranieri. The canvas won the art contest open to paintings and sculptures "Vini in cerca d'Autore" ("Wines in Search of Authors") 2004. The event, this year at its second annual, was organized by Cantine Soloperto.
"The winner of our contest is always used on one of our labels, giving it international exposure," said Sabina Soloperto, co-owner with her brother Ernesto of the winery. "We thought that this year winner, Il Volo Della Farfalla, was perfect for our latest enological creation."
The Soloperto Novello is 13% alcohol by volume, which means it has 2% more alcohol that the typical Novello wine. The color is ruby, the flavor is fruity and floral, reminiscent of hyacinth. It is soft to the palate, with strawberry, toasted almond and cherry liqueur nuances. It is perfect paired with soups, pasta, white meat and grilled seafood. Obviously, it must be drunk early to savor its organolectic characteristics to the fullest.
